ABOUT
I was born in 1974 in Florence (Firenze), Italy.
I am seriously devoting myself to photography since early 2000's.
I started on as autodidact: in particular, besides the pure technical aspects of photography,
I studied contemporary photographers and tried to understand how they see reality through
their lens.
In 2005-2006 I took part to courses and workshops held by A. Abati, a photographer from Tuscany, Italy.
Under his guidance I studied in depth the theme of night photography.
Night photography is the kind of photography I prefer. Photography is the art of drawing with light: paradoxically I am fascinated by situations where light is almost missing, where light is particularly worthy.
I like finding out the beauty of nocturnal light, when everything is apparently dark
and I finally have to stop in order to see what is around me.
I am interested also in stage, music and theatre photography. Alessandro Botticelli, a well known Italian stage photographer, was my teacher in this field.
I permanently collaborate with ''Down Theatre'', a theatre company from Florence.
I consider shooting a concert or a play in theatre or a ballet not only recording an event; I like sharpening the emotions of people who live the event, both artist and spectator.
The framing by the viewfinder, together with the focusing, is the part I take most care of when I take a picture; I think these acts are really discriminant among different photographers.
Framing and focusing mean choosing where to stop, choosing the perspective and first of all choosing what to "put in" and what to "leave out".
Ultimately, photograph for me is simply to put objects and situations in relation among themselves.
